Hardware Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Cable & Harness Designer to support the design and development of complex cable, wire harness, and system interconnect solutions for advanced manufacturing equipment. This role will work closely with engineering, manufacturing, and cross-functional teams to create high-quality design documentation and ensure reliable electrical interconnect solutions are delivered on schedule. Key Responsibilities Design and develop manufacturing documentation using E3 Zuken CAD software, including wire lists, cable and wire harness assemblies, enclosure schematics, system interconnect diagrams, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Translate system schematics into detailed wiring diagrams and harness designs. Design cable and harness assemblies that meet voltage, current, reliability, and performance requirements. Select and specify connectors, pins, cables, conductor gauge sizing, strain relief, shielding, and related electrical components. Create, maintain, and release cable and harness drawings within PLM systems and engineering databases. Support product development by delivering high-quality electrical interconnect designs aligned with project schedules. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other stakeholders on design concepts, implementation, and issue resolution. Track engineering issues and support corrective actions with internal teams and external vendors. Ensure design accuracy, documentation quality, and compliance with applicable standards. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Strong understanding of mechanical and electronic components, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BOMs). Experience designing system interconnects, cable assemblies, and wire harnesses. Experience creating detailed 2D manufacturing drawings for production environments. Knowledge of drafting fundamentals including dimensioning and view projections. Ability to read and interpret electrical component specifications and validate component selection based on design requirements. Strong communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills. High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline. 3+ years of experience in cable, harness, or electrical interconnect design. Proficiency with E3 Zuken, NX 3D Modeling, SAP, Teamcenter, and iPLM. Experience designing complex cable and harness assemblies for high-reliability applications. Ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate risks, and meet project deadlines. Knowledge of IPC-620, ANSI, ASME, MIL-STD, and related engineering specifications. Experience supporting manufacturing, semiconductor, aerospace, defense, or other high‑tech industries.
