Adjunct Professor of Child Development

Position Overview Adjunct Professor of Child Development at Oklahoma City Community College. Primary responsibility is interactive and substantive instruction in courses agreed with the department chair through the semester. Instruction may be on campus, hybrid, zoom or fully online. Secondary responsibilities include supporting curriculum integrity, encouraging student success and promoting the mission of the department, division and College. Qualifications Master’s degree, including a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or a comparable field. At least 24 months of teaching experience with young children (birth to 8 years old) in a classroom setting. Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Positive human relations and communication skills. Basic computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software. Flexible teaching style to accommodate individual learning styles. Committed to helping students achieve their goals. Knowledge or willingness to learn computer programs such as Moodle. Organization and attention to detail. Support and willingness to teach in a competency‑based instructional system. Ability to work independently and collaborate with colleagues and peers. Teamwork and effective communication, both verbal and written. Ability to read and understand content to assist students. Effective and encouraging interaction with students individually and in groups. Reliability and punctuality. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching in person, Zoom and daytime on‑campus instruction. Online teaching certification. Job Duties Provide quality interactive instruction in assigned courses. Create clear course objectives, relevant activities and effective presentations. Apply fair and understandable grading practices (credit classes only). Respond timely to student inquiries. Maintain a positive classroom atmosphere. Participate in assessment of student learning outcomes. Participate in assessment of general education outcomes for the college. Respond promptly to information requests from program, division and College administrators. Maintain required office hours (face‑to‑face or online as appropriate). Attend required meetings. Acquire new knowledge and skills relevant to the discipline. Complete special assignments as agreed. Support the division’s, department’s and college’s goals. Adhere to policies, procedures, safety and health practices.
