Must-Have:
General Med/Tele skillset including:
- Stroke experience
- Cardiac rhythm interpretation
- Tracheostomy care
- Peripheral IV starts
- Chest tube management
- Nasogastric tube placement
- Drain and tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion and management)
- PCA pump and medication management including cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, and IV fluids


Description:
This position is for a Medical/Surgical Telemetry Nurse.
The nurse will be assigned to a designated unit on the first day of orientation.
The unit has a variable number of beds.
Patient types include end-stage renal disease, peritoneal dialysis, fluid overload, sickle cell disease, diabetes mellitus, altered mental status, cellulitis, diabetic ulcers, pancreatitis, and behavioral health issues.
Patient ratios are typically RN to patient ratios of 1:5-6, and in critical surge situations, 1:7-8.
Certified Nursing Assistants will have ratios of 1:6-12.
Support within the department includes elements such as receptionists and charge nurses, who may or may not have patients.
Phlebotomy services will be available for peripheral blood draws.
There will be a team available for IV issues from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Resource nurses will provide support as staffing allows.
A hospitalist and intensivist are available 24/7.
Telemetry monitoring will be provided.
Nurses may be required to float to other units within their scope of practice.
Cross-training across various units within the system is expected as per operational needs.
Scheduling will involve a weekend rotation every other weekend.
The expectation is that travelers will work 75% of recognized holidays.
Requests for time off are permitted, and any unused time must be added to the contract's duration.
The schedule cycle will occur every six weeks.
