About the Position As Monitor, you will be directing and safely supervising students 24 hours a day. Location: Downtown Los Angeles, CA. On-site. Non-Exempt (Hourly). Responsibilities Supervises students during daytime and evening hours and notifies staff of any symptoms or signs of substance abuse of students and/or drug overdoses. Supervise students’ daily activities and assume supervisory responsibilities in the absence of other staff. Documents and monitors regular bed checks as required. Communicate with other monitors regarding daily activities or disturbances. Serves as an advisor and positive role model for students. Prevents and intervenes in student altercations and incidents. Conducts and practices emergency evacuation procedures. Assists in maintaining facility grounds and keeping equipment in proper working condition. Maintain facility and equipment clean, orderly, and proper working condition. Responsible for critical incidents and incident reporting when occurs during scheduled shift. Uploads clinical supportive documentation (e.g.: motivation logs, intention forms, etc.). Participates in community activities as it relates to the position and attends additional training as needed. Administers First Aid and CPR during emergencies in accordance with state and federal regulations. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Be at least 21 years of age. First Aid and CPR certification. Knowledge of ethnic and cultural differences within criminal justice populations. Understanding of causes, symptoms, and effects of incarceration; appreciation for the behavioral, psychological, physical, and social effects of incarceration.
