Auto Rail Loader Job Description

An  Auto Rail Loader is responsible for loading and unloading vehicles or cargo onto railcars in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner, often in a fast-paced automotive or logistics environment.

Role Overview

The Auto Rail Loader ensures that new vehicles or goods are properly positioned, secured, and loaded onto railcars according to company quality and safety standards. This role is critical in maintaining timely shipment schedules and protecting cargo from damage during transit 

Key Responsibilities

• Loading & Unloading: Safely load and unload vehicles or cargo onto railcars, ensuring correct positioning and secure fastening interviewguy.com +1 .
• Inspection: Check railcars and cargo for damage or defects before and after loading interviewguy.com +1 .
• Equipment Operation: Operate specialized loading machinery, forklifts, or other equipment to move and position cargo interviewguy.com +1 .
• Compliance: Follow all safety regulations, company policies, and quality standards interviewguy.com +1 .
• Record Keeping: Maintain logs of loading activities, inventory counts, and any issues encountered interviewguy.com +1 .
• Coordination: Communicate with supervisors, maintenance crews, and other rail yard staff to ensure smooth operations interviewguy.com +1 .
• Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on loading equipment as needed interviewguy.com.
• Physical Duties: Lift and move heavy items, work outdoors in all weather conditions, and stand/walk for extended periods

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: Previous rail yard or similar handling experience preferred interviewguy.com.
• Physical Ability: Able to lift up to 50 lbs overhead, work at heights, and stand/walk for long periods 
• Safety Awareness: Knowledge of safety protocols for working around moving trains and heavy equipment jobdayta.com +1 .
• Mechanical Skills: Ability to operate and maintain loading equipment.
• Attention to Detail: Accurate measurement, weight distribution, and cargo placement to prevent damage 
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for coordination with teams
• Education: High school diploma or equivalent
