PNA II performs moderately complex rehabilitative patient care services under the clinical supervision of a Registered Nurse in an inpatient setting. The role includes emergency, health, and personal care services, therapeutic interaction with patients, documentation, and participation in individualized and unit-based programming. The primary responsibility is to maintain direct and ongoing therapeutic interactions to promote living and social skills, encouraging progress toward a less restrictive environment. Essential Job Functions Attend work on a regular basis and may be asked to work specific shift schedules, including rotating schedules, extended shifts, and overtime. Take an active role in implementing individualized recovery plans and offer consistent, ongoing support to help patients reach their goals. Communicate effectively with other team members to promote a positive workplace. Serve as a participant on the recovery or admissions team, providing ongoing collaborative verbal and written communication concerning patients. Use basic computer skills and documentation procedures to clearly and concisely communicate patient care information in a timely manner. Assist the licensed nurse in monitoring patients for medication administration or treatment, including taking and monitoring vital signs. Proactively promote safety through continuous environmental awareness and positive engagement of patients to minimize unsafe situations and injuries. Promote and encourage participation in classes and programs; co‑facilitate groups as assigned or requested. Respond to crises or psychiatric emergencies using the least restrictive intervention under RN supervision, applying Treatment Intervention Protection Strategies (TIPS) and verbal de‑escalation. Perform CPR, Heimlich techniques, and use an AED correctly and safely according to American Heart Association specifications. Provide RN timely, clinically relevant patient information, such as possible side effects of medication or behavioral escalation, gained by direct observation. In the absence of PNA III and IV, provide guidance and preceptorship to other PNAs as needed. Serve on unit‑based and hospital‑wide committees, contributing to interdisciplinary efforts focused on quality improvement, patient safety, and strategic planning. Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor to ensure efficient operation of the patient care unit. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Knowledge of patient care techniques and of treatment, therapy, developmental, and patient‑centered recovery programs. Knowledge of basic computer skills. Knowledge of effective interpersonal and leadership skills to interact with other team members. Skill in taking vital signs. Ability to read, write, and understand English to effectively communicate and carry out verbal and written instructions. Ability to provide patient care, administer first aid or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and conduct TIPS. Ability to work with others and accept supervision. Ability to train and provide guidance to others. Registrations, Licensure & Certifications

• Transportation of patients requires a valid Texas driver license, obtained no later than 90 days after hire.
• CPR certification required, or ability to obtain certification within the first 60 days of employment.

Initial Screening Criteria • Twelve (12) months’ work experience. Preferred Qualifications • Twelve (12) months of direct care experience preferred. Background & Eligibility All applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre‑employment drug screen, and additional registry checks. Age requirements: minimum 18 years of age for state‑operated facilities; 21 years for Waco and Terrell Center for Youth applications. Males aged 18‑25 must be registered with Selective Service. Immunization & Health Requirements Compliance with the HHSC immunization policy is required.
