Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Description

Job Summary:
Provides specialized nursing care to obstetric patients in a hospital's labor and delivery unit, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of mothers and newborns throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. Collaborates with healthcare teams to deliver high-quality maternal and neonatal care.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess fetal well-being and maternal status during labor and delivery.
• Assist with procedures such as vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, and epidural placements.
• Administer medications, manage IVs, and perform sterile vaginal exams.
• Educate and support patients throughout labor, delivery, and postpartum recovery.
• Document patient progress accurately in electronic medical records.
• Maintain sterile environment and ensure adherence to safety protocols.

Qualifications:

• Valid KY license or Compact license required at submission.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital L&D setting.
• Current BLS, ACLS, NRP, and AWHONN certifications.
• Demonstrated ability to perform procedures including IV insertion and fetal monitoring.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient-focused skills.
