About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Med Surg Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 07:00 - 19:00 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN license Certifications: BLS certification Must-Have: - Med/Surg experience - Ability to prioritize care and multitask - Proficient in starting IVs, basic wound care, and maintenance of surgical drains, nasogastric tubes, and chest tubes Description: This position is for a Registered Nurse in the Med Surg specialty. The unit has a total of 20 beds with a patient ratio of 6:1. Support staff is available on both day and night shifts, including tech support and a unit secretary from 7 AM to 7 PM. Common equipment utilized includes IV pumps, telemetry, SCDs, continuous pulse oximeters, feeding pumps, PCA, EKG machines, and bladder scanners. Documentation is managed through a meditech system. The nurse will be expected to work three 12-hour shifts per week with two weekends each month, totaling four shifts in a four-week schedule. In terms of patient experience, the nurse is expected to provide attentive and compassionate care to patients and family members. A bedside shift report process is used, and the nurse should be able to make personal connections with patients and include them and their family members in their care plan. The unit maintains a focus on comprehensive stroke care and trauma services. Awards and recognition details, as well as relevant unit-specific guidelines, should be reviewed prior to assignment.
