About the Role: The Safety Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring a safe and compliant work environment across all operational areas within the organization. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining comprehensive safety programs that minimize risks and prevent workplace accidents and injuries. The Safety Specialist conducts thorough safety audits and accident investigations to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions. They also provide expert guidance on regulatory compliance related to industrial safety, hazardous waste management, and respiratory protection. Ultimately, this role supports the organization’s commitment to employee well-being and regulatory adherence by fostering a culture of safety awareness and continuous improvement. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field. Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial safety or a similar safety specialist role. Proven knowledge of OSHA regulations and safety standards applicable to industrial environments. Experience conducting accident investigations and safety audits. Certification such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupational Health and Safety Technologist (OHST) is preferred. Preferred Qualifications: Advanced certifications in hazardous waste management or respiratory protection. Experience working in manufacturing, construction, or industrial sectors. Familiarity with environmental regulations related to hazardous materials. Strong training and presentation skills to effectively deliver safety programs. Ability to use safety management software and data analysis tools. Responsibilities: Conduct detailed accident investigations to determine root causes and develop preventive measures. Perform regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory standards. Develop, implement, and update safety training programs tailored to various departments and job functions. Manage hazardous waste handling and disposal processes in accordance with environmental regulations. Oversee fall protection programs and respiratory protection initiatives to safeguard employees in high-risk environments. Collaborate with management and employees to promote safety awareness and encourage proactive hazard identification. Maintain accurate records of safety incidents, training sessions, and compliance activities for reporting purposes. Skills: The required skills such as accident investigation and safety audits are essential for identifying workplace hazards and ensuring compliance with safety regulations on a daily basis. Expertise in respiratory protection and fall protection is applied to develop and enforce safety protocols that protect employees from specific occupational risks. Managing hazardous waste requires knowledge of proper handling and disposal procedures to prevent environmental contamination and regulatory violations. Safety training skills are used to educate employees on best practices and emergency response, fostering a culture of safety throughout the organization. Preferred skills like advanced certifications and familiarity with safety software enhance the specialist’s ability to implement efficient safety programs and analyze safety data for continuous improvement.
