Position Summary Provides basic blood drawing procedures or experienced skill in capillary and venipuncture blood collection on patients in a patient unit, outpatient area, or laboratory environment under direct or moderate supervision. Job Description Primary Duties & Responsibilities Draws blood on patients within Children’s and Barnes Hospitals by venipuncture or capillary sticks. Applies sweat tests at supervisor’s discretion. Transports specimens. Performs other duties assigned by supervisor or Phlebotomy coordinator. Working Conditions Job Location/Working Conditions Exposure to blood-borne pathogens. Requires protective devices. Direct patient setting. Physical Effort Typically sitting at desk or table. Typically standing or walking. Typically bending, crouching, stooping. Occasional lifting (25 lbs or less). Equipment Office equipment. Clinical/diagnostic equipment. More About This Job Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within one month of hire date. Online BLS certifications, those without a skills assessment component, are not sufficient to meet the BLS requirements. Salary Range $16.75 - $22.70 / Hourly The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
