Automotive Equipment Operator I

Job Description and Duties

Patton State Hospital, Human Resources Department, is accepting applications for at least one (1) Permanent, Full-Time Automotive Equipment Operator I (AEOI) position in the Motor Pool department. This position is under the direct supervision of the Automotive Pool Manager I.

The AEOI position consists of moderate to heavy labor and may be subject to various weather conditions.

Candidates must possess and maintain a valid California Commercial Driver License Class B with a Passenger Endorsement to drive the patient bus equipped to transport fifteen (15) or more passengers and an Air Brake certification to operate the Refuse Packers (trash trucks) and Refrigerated Food Trucks; and have one (1) year experience in operating a box truck, passenger vehicle, forklift, and similar motorized equipment; loading and unloading vehicles correctly and safely; have good mechanical ability; have the capability of following directions; the competency to understand and adhere to posted speed limits, and hospital security regulations.

The AEOI classification will be required to complete and pass random drug/alcohol screenings regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT) and maintain a valid California Commercial Driver License Class B, Passenger Endorsement, and Air Brake Certification.

The Motor Pool Department operates seven days a week. Successful candidate must be available to work any shift in a variety of settings throughout the hospital. May also be required to work overtime and float to other work locations determined by the operational needs of the hospital.

Working Conditions

Patton is a forensic psychiatric hospital and was established in 1890 and opened in 1893. DSH-Patton provides treatment to forensically and civilly committed patients within a secure treatment area. The hospital does not accept voluntary admissions.
