Registered Nurse Supervisor -Emergency Department

Overview The Supervisor will have 24/7 accountability for the Emergency Department. The Supervisor plans, organizes, and directs nursing practice for the unit. Position is salaried, Monday‑Friday days with occasional overtime or covering unit needs. Location: Crystal Lake Hospital. Pay Range: $87,370.23–$139,792.38. Key Responsibilities Provide strong problem solving in complex situations and meet budget and productivity targets. Lead staff selection, evaluation, orientation, continuing education, competency assessment, and scheduling based on patient acuity. Partner with the Manager/Clinical Leader to ensure staff performance aligns with unit goals. Build relationships with physicians and other providers, maintaining high patient satisfaction (Press‑Gains, HCAHPS). Drive process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change. Ensure compliance with accreditation, certification, and regulatory standards. Communicate effectively, demonstrating compassion, creativity, and visibility. Serve on hospital and department committees, mentor staff and colleagues, and model professional behavior. Act as a coach for Critical Moments of Service Standards and service recovery. Participate in performance improvement activities, shared governance, and the nursing clinical ladder. Utilize critical thinking for patient safety, experience, and appropriate escalation. BSN required upon hire. Certification & Licensure Licensed as an RN in the state of practice. Approved CPR certification within 90 days; additional unit certifications (ACLS, PALS, PEARS, NRP) as required. Skills & Abilities Color‑blind test as per department guidelines (if applicable). Strong physician relationship skills and physician collaboration. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment. Physical Demands Regularly talk or hear, stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach, and occasionally sit. Regularly lift or move up to 25 lbs and occasionally up to 50 lbs. Vision requirements: close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Leadership & Supervision Performs duties with general supervision; regularly supervises and manages others in their performance.
