Transportation Operations Manager

We are a USPS mail contractor looking for an experienced Transportation Operations Manager for Bethpage NY to assist in the planning, coordinating and executing of our long‑term company objectives. Area Storage & Transfer Inc. is a USPS preferred contractor since 1989. We have been one of the top 100 suppliers for the Postal Service. Area operates nationally with offices in Harrisburg PA, Bethpage NY and satellite operations in Erie and nearby locations. You will be directly accountable for the operations 24/7, making sure the day‑to‑day operations perform effectively. To succeed in this role, your leadership skills must be equal to your ability to multi‑task. Dispatch must be manned 24 hours a day, 365 days per year. You must ensure that it is covered, even if you have to do it yourself. You must empower and hold subordinates accountable, quickly acquaint yourself with operations requirements and have excellent communication skills (written/verbal). Experience with Class A driver hiring/qualifications and scheduling is a big plus. Responsibilities Staff/schedule/supervise 24/7 dispatch center Schedule daily and weekly routes Track drivers/loads using Samsara system Interview/hire/train/terminate employees as needed Monitor and report on transportation costs Report maintenance and repair needs for transportation vehicles and equipment Research and suggest cost‑effective alternatives to our current plans/methods Assist Safety Director with all safety related issues Qualifications Proven work experience as a Transportation Manager or similar role Experience scheduling Familiarity with Samsara, Tracx, and e‑Maintenance software a plus Excellent organizational skills Ability to supervise and train staff Problem‑solving abilities Must learn driver management, safety, dispatching, helping to solve postal issues that arise and communicate to other postal facilities of any issues Benefits Health Insurance, Vision, Dental 401K Vacation, Holiday pay, Disability $85,000 - $105,000 depending on experience.
