Accountant

The Accountant is responsible for performing the general accounting and financial duties for the Colleges and LSSC Foundation, including recording the pre-award and post-award grants. Prepare journal entries and process accounting and budget transactions throughout the year. Performs a broad range of accounting duties that require knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and Governmental Accounting Standards Board statements. Responsible for promoting and sustaining a collegial, respectful, and high-performing work environment for all employees. Responsible for demonstrating LSSC’s core values of Caring, Communicating, Collaborating, and Celebrating when interacting with students, employees, visitors, and community members. include, but are not limited to the following: Assist in preparing month-end and fiscal year-end closing and reporting processes in preparation for the Annual Financial Report for both the College and Foundation. Assist in maintaining the property management database. Assist in budget preparations. Reconciliation of all general ledger accounts Serve as backup for Accounts Payable processing/disbursing vendor checks when needed. Prepare invoices and billings. Process employee travel reimbursement requests according to LSSC policies and procedures. Assist with the preparation of audit schedules. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Excellent skills in Microsoft Office 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and the ability to become proficient in MS Teams. Excellent planning, organization, attention to detail, and skills; ability to anticipate outcomes. Ability to use appropriate technology to organize, synthesize, and communicate data. Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate critical thinking skills, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively manage projects. Required: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field from an accredited institution. Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in an administration/accounting position, preferably in a two-year college/university setting. Evidence of analyzing financial data for reporting purposes.
