Level 1 P&C Relay Technician

Position Title: Level 1 P&C Relay Technician Location: New Brunswick, NJ Position Type: Full time Requisition ID: 2026-R463 Job Summary As a Level 1 P&C Relay Technician at Sparus Holdings, you will be responsible for assisting with the installation, testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection and control (P&C) relays and associated equipment in substations and power systems. This entry-level role supports senior technicians in ensuring the reliable operation of critical electrical infrastructure. Job Responsibilities Assist senior technicians with the installation, wiring, and commissioning of various types of protection and control relays (e.g., overcurrent, differential, distance) and related equipment. Perform basic functional checks and verification of relay settings under direct supervision. Aid in routine maintenance activities, including visual inspections, cleaning, and minor repairs of P&C equipment. Support troubleshooting efforts for relay-related issues, including identifying faulty components and verifying wiring integrity. Collect and record test data accurately and meticulously. Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and relay elementary diagrams. Adhere to all safety protocols, company policies, and industry standards (e.g., NERC, IEEE). Maintain tools and test equipment in good working condition. Participate in training and development programs to enhance technical skills and knowledge. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors regarding project status and technical issues. Job Qualifications High school diploma or GED required. Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, or a related field preferred, or equivalent military experience. Basic understanding of electrical principles, AC/DC circuits, and power systems. Familiarity with common electrical testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, ammeters) is a plus. Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals and diagrams. Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Excellent problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must possess a valid driver's license and have a clean driving record. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions and environments (e.g., substations, industrial settings). Successful completion of a background check and drug screening.
