Temple University Center City is an academic and community-facing campus located in the heart of Center City Philadelphia. At its current and future locations, the campus is surrounded by major corporate headquarters, arts and cultural institutions, nonprofit organizations, and civic partners. Temple University Center City supports undergraduate and graduate programs, continuing education, corporate training, public events, and community engagement initiatives, with programming and activities occurring throughout the day, in the evening, and on weekends. The Director provides strategic and operational leadership for Temple University Center City, serving as the senior campus administrator responsible for advancing the campus as a vibrant hub for teaching, learning, professional development, community engagement, and civic partnership. The Director oversees campus operations, facilities coordination, space utilization, scheduling, administrative functions, and services that enable outstanding academic programs, public events, and external partnerships. As the campus leader, the Director provides hands-on leadership, creative problem-solving, and coordination to ensure the campus functions as a high-quality, welcoming, accessible, and secure environment where innovative programs, partnerships, and community engagement can thrive. The Director will lead the planning and execution of the relocation of Temple University Center City from 1515 Market Street to 211 S. Broad Street, ensuring a successful transition and anticipated opening in Fall 2027. This role will help shape the future of a highly visible university presence in Center City Philadelphia by supporting innovative programming, strengthening partnerships, and advancing the campus as a hub for teaching, learning, research, professional development, creative activity, and civic engagement. Working collaboratively with university leadership, deans, faculty, staff, and external partners, the Director plays a central role in developing and strengthening the relationships, partnerships, and programming that position Temple University Center City as a vibrant hub for teaching, learning, research, creative activity, professional development, and civic engagement. The Director facilitates collaboration with arts, cultural, civic, nonprofit, governmental, and business organizations; supports the implementation of university priorities and partnerships; coordinates public-facing programs and events; and ensures the effective management and utilization of campus facilities, resources, and services. Success in this role requires the ability to lead through influence, collaboration, and relationship-building within a complex, decentralized university environment. The Director must effectively navigate diverse perspectives, align stakeholders, and advance shared goals across academic and administrative units. The Director approaches challenges with creativity, flexibility, and a strong customer-service orientation, working proactively and collaboratively with academic and community partners to develop solutions that support innovative programming while balancing operational, financial, safety, and university requirements. University College is comprised of three regional campuses (Ambler, Center City, and Harrisburg), as well as pre-college, summer, continuing education and program development, and undergraduate certificate and degree programs, including the Bachelor of General Studies. As a member of the University College senior leadership team, the Director collaborates with campus and unit leaders to support University College initiatives across all campuses and advance the mission and strategic priorities of both University College and Temple University. * Bachelor's degree in public administration, business administration, arts administration, higher education administration, nonprofit management, or a related field.
* A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience managing operations, facilities, programs, partnerships, or administrative functions within a higher education, nonprofit, cultural, corporate, civic, or similarly multifaceted environment.
* Experience leading major projects, transitions, or organizational change initiatives is required.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Education and Experience
* A minimum of eight (8) years of progressively responsible experience managing operations, facilities, programs, partnerships, or administrative functions within a higher education, nonprofit, cultural, corporate, civic, or similarly multifaceted environment.
* Experience working in higher education and/or arts, cultural, civic, or nonprofit institutions.
* Established relationships across arts, civic, nonprofit, corporate, government, and philanthropic sectors.
* Experience managing a university campus, academic center, cultural facility, conference center, or other public-facing environment within a higher education, civic, cultural, or community setting.
* Experience with place-based initiatives, downtown development, community engagement, or urban partnerships.
* Experience supporting fundraising, sponsorship, grant development, or resource development efforts. Required Skills and Abilities
* Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, collaboration, and relationship-building in a complex organizational environment with multiple stakeholders and shared decision-making structures.
* Experience developing, coordinating, and implementing innovative programs, events, partnerships, or engagement initiatives that support an organization's mission, visibility, and community impact.
* Demonstrated ability to build and sustain relationships with academic leaders, community organizations, businesses, cultural institutions, government agencies, and other external partners.
* Experience supervising and developing professional and administrative staff.
* Demonstrated experience managing the operation, administration, or management of a physical facility, program site, campus, or other multi-use environment.
* Experience overseeing day-to-day operations, including space utilization, scheduling, campus services, vendor coordination, access management, and operational logistics.
* Demonstrated ability to lead projects involving multiple stakeholders, including facility transitions, relocations, renovations, expansions, or significant organizational change efforts.
* Experience managing budgets, resources, contracts, revenue-generating activities, and/or other strategies that support organizational sustainability.
* Demonstrated commitment to customer service, responsiveness, and collaborative problem-solving, with the ability to balance competing priorities while delivering high-quality service to internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to represent an organization effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
* Ability to work nights/weekends/early mornings.
