Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology/Medical (Clinical) Laboratory Science OR Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, or 30 or more years of previous experience concurrent with CLIA grandfathered exception.**PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:****EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:**1. Certification as a Medical Technologist/ Medical Lab Scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or American Medical Technologists (AMT).**EXPERIENCE:**1. Perform phlebotomy procedures on patients as needed.6. Complete forms and reports findings to nurses and/or physicians.7. Interact with other healthcare workers to solve problems and interpret patient lab results within the framework of medical technology.8. Perform routine and basic laboratory testing within a designated area in the clinical laboratory.10. Recognize testing inconsistency and take appropriate corrective action.11. Maintain all patent and specimen records accurately, neatly, and legibly.12. Follow hospital, state, and federal guidelines for ensuring a safe environment for workers, patients, and public.13. Maintain compliance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures for safety, security, and infection control.14. Knowledge of basic computer skills.**Additional Job Description:**This is a full-time position. The hours will be 10 hour shifts, 10:30am until 9:00pm. Rotating weekends and holidays. This is a generalist position and technologist will work in all areas of the laboratory, including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology and Blood Bank. The technologist will also be required to receive and process laboratory specimens. There will be a 6-8 week training/orientation period prior to beginning the 10:30am - 9pm shift.
