Duties

Help

• Advise on all physical security matters installation wide and of the Installation Access Control policies and procedures.
• Maintain operation command over the Department of the Army Security Guards.
• Conduct routine physical and internal security inspections to detect deficiencies and violations of directives.
• Coordinate operations of the Visitor Control Center (VCC). Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures for the VCC.
• Responsible for physical security plans, procedures, and inspections as well as key control.

• During crisis situations may be required to work other than normal duty hours that may include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays and overtime.
• Position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain a SECRET personnel security clearance.
• This position requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. Must obtain and maintain a valid state driver's license.
• This is a drug testing designated position (TDP) under the Department of the Army Drug-Free Federal Workplace Program in accordance with AR 600-85.
• Incumbent is subject to a medical clearance examination prior to employment. This position may require an annual physical or medical surveillance examination.
• May require Temporary Duty travel (TDY) up to 20%.
• This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.
• Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 11. While probationary the incumbent can be terminated with limited appeal rights.
• This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs. in the regular performance of duties.

In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) Advise on all physical security matters that include physical security plans, procedures and inspections; 2) Conduct physical and internal security inspections to detect deficiencies and violations of directives. 3) Prepares, maintains and updates the physical security plans as they relate to arms, ammunition and explosives in support of various tenant missions. 4) Monitors various systems such as the key control system, mobility badge system and security exchange badge system to ensure adequacy and regulatory compliance. 5) Develops and updates Standard Operating Procedures for the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to ensure all protocols are followed for daily operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service ( GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the work of the position such as: Security Administration, National Security Studies etc. ( Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts .)

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
