Join Rite of Passage (ROP) and become part of a team dedicated to helping youth build brighter futures!The Billing & Collections Specialist is responsible for full-cycle outpatient behavioral health billing and collections, including charge entry, claim submission, payment posting, and accounts receivable follow-up. This position ensures accurate and timely reimbursement by managing insurance claims, resolving denials and payment discrepancies, and coordinating with Medicaid, managed care organizations, commercial insurance payers, and internal departments. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and experienced in healthcare billing and collections.We value our team members and offer benefits designed to support your health, financial future, and work-life balance.Medical, dental, and vision insurance.Company-paid life insurance.Benefits available within 90 days of employment.401(k) with an employer match of up to 6% after one year of employment.Paid time off that can be used as it accrues.Additional employee benefits and perks.Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Perform full-cycle outpatient behavioral health billing, including charge entry, claim preparation, submission, and follow-up.Review documentation, CPT/HCPCS codes, modifiers, authorizations, and insurance eligibility to ensure accurate billing.Submit electronic and manual claims to Medicaid, managed care organizations (MCOs), and commercial insurance payers.Post insurance and patient payments, adjustments, and reconcile payment discrepancies.Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding insurance and patient balances.Investigate and resolve rejected, denied, or underpaid claims, including corrections, reconsiderations, and appeals.Review remittance advice (RA/EOB) to identify reimbursement discrepancies and denial trends.Communicate with insurance payers and internal departments to resolve billing, authorization, and payment issues.Maintain accurate billing records and account documentation while ensuring compliance with payer requirements, company policies, and HIPAA.Meet established billing, productivity, and collection goals.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferredMinimum of 2 years of healthcare collections or medical billing experience preferredBehavioral health, residential treatment, or Medicaid collections experience strongly preferredKnowledge of insurance claims processing, denials management, and appealsFamiliarity with Medicaid and managed care payer guidelinesStrong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and customer service abilitiesAbility to manage multiple accounts and deadlines effectivelyProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare billing systemsAbility to pass a criminal background clearance check, drug screen, physical and TB test.Preferred Skills:Experience with behavioral health, PRTF, or residential treatment billingUnderstanding of authorizations, eligibility verification, and coordination of benefitsKnowledge of multi-state Medicaid billing processesFor more than 40 years, Rite of Passage has been committed to improving the lives of youth and helping young people become successful adults.As a Billing and Collections Specialist, you'll contribute to the operational success of our organization while supporting a mission that creates meaningful opportunities for the youth we serve.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities This employer is required to notify all applicants of their rights pursuant to federal employment laws.
