Job Summary and Qualifications

The Respiratory Therapist is responsible for coordinating and delivering high-quality, patient-focused respiratory care in line with departmental requirements and consistent with the relevant state and specialty practice standards. As an essential member of the patient care team, the Respiratory Therapist conducts various diagnostic tests and therapeutic procedures while monitoring patients on both invasive and noninvasive mechanical ventilation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct and document patient assessments, including breath sounds, airway patency, and cuff pressure. Perform diagnostic procedures to determine the necessity for and response to respiratory therapy.
• Administer respiratory care therapies, such as oxygen delivery, aerosol medication delivery, and chest physiotherapy.
• Assist in the placement of artificial airways and initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanical ventilation.
• Monitor patients for therapeutic responses and notify providers while intervening as necessary in case of adverse reactions.
• Assist in the transportation of patients who are dependent on ventilators.
• Respond to emergency situations, ensuring airway integrity and adequate ventilation during resuscitation as needed.

Qualifications Required:

• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) or Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) certification.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification, or an Associate Degree, or completion of a Vocational School program, or a relevant certificate must be obtained within 30 days of starting employment.

No travel is required for this position.

1 year of experience is required.
