Under the guidance of the Program Manager, the Certified Medical Assistant will have duties at the front desk, taking calls, scheduling appointments, getting charts prepared and assisting with patient care as needed. This is a critically important role, and the duties are split between administrative and clinical responsibilities.

How You Will Fulfill Your Mission

• Attend to the needs of our patients that call to schedule appointments for exams.
• Maintains the scheduling book, and ERHS scheduling system.
• Organize the charts as the appointments are being made.
• Greet Patients as they come in for their appointments.
• Assures cleanliness in the front of the office and maintains a well-organized working station.
• Maintains precise records for use by appropriate members of the occupational health team.
• Distinguishes between normal and abnormal findings and alerts MD/NP as needed.
• Maintains confidentiality of patient records and information.
• Assists in the health assessment of workers by obtaining vital signs, performing basic laboratory tests, and assisting the Healthcare Provider as needed.
• Perform various patient testing including, but not limited to EKG's, phlebotomy, hearing and vision screenings, spirometry, audiometry, and specimen collection.
• Maintains supplies and equipment. Reports malfunctions and shortages promptly to the appropriate individual.
• Able to identify a walk-in emergency and respond in an effective manner.
• Follows current and proper medical procedures for own safety and that of the patient.

Specific Knowledge/Certification Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• High school Diploma or equivalent.
• Certification as a Registered Medical Assistant.
• Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (must be completed within 3 months of hire).
• Minimum two (2) years of training in a clinical setting.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Completion of a NIOSH Spirometry Course.
• Designation as an Occupational Hearing Conservationist through CAOHC.

Working Conditions

• Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to walk, sit, or stand for extended periods of time; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; talk or hear; have sufficient manual dexterity to operate a keyboard, calculator, telephone, and other such office equipment as necessary; may occasionally move and/or lift up to 50 pounds or more with assistance. Specific visual abilities required by the job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust and focus.
• Work Environment: Work will mainly be performed in an office setting and occasionally with irregular hours.
• Travel: A low to moderate amount of travel away from office may be required.
