Rail Flaw Detection Assistant Operator - Travel Role Position Summary Ready to trade the desk for the open road and keep America’s railways safe? Wabtec’s Rail Flaw Detection team is hiring an Assistant Operator for a fully funded travel position. Flights, hotels, and expenses are covered, and you’ll receive 6 weeks of vacation each year. Location Kansas City, MO Pay $22/hr + DOE Travel Requirements 100% travel across the continental U.S.; 6 weeks of vacation annually. Position Type Direct Hire Responsibilities Drive rail inspection vehicles on‑road and on‑track Assist Chief Operator during ultrasonic testing Maintain and repair the ultrasonic testing carriage Mark defective rails; conduct pre/post DOT vehicle inspections Manage electronic driver logs, fuel reports, and expense records Qualifications High school diploma or GED 1+ year professional driving experience preferred (comfort with larger trucks) Basic mechanical aptitude and hand tool knowledge Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office 365/Windows) Ability to travel extensively — up to several months at a time Reliable team player with a clean driving record Preferred Qualifications Railroad experience Benefits Wabtec offers medical, dental, and vision insurance; 401(k) with match; paid time off; paid holidays; tuition reimbursement; uniform allowance; and all supplies/tools provided.
