- Tune standing rigging
- Connect and troubleshoot mast lights and wiring
- Install booms, sails, running rigging
- Prepare sailboats to safely sail
- Splice lines, service winches and furling systems-both manual and electrical/hydraulic.
- Service sailboat steering systems and deck hardware
- Wax and clean spars
- Inspect and estimate repairs
- Must possess own tools
- Availability to work overtime in order to meet deadlines
- Other duties as assigned by Manager
- Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.
- Wear proper personal protective equipment (may include safety glasses, gloves, life jackets and/or hard hats) as required for the task or work area.
- Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Sailing knowledge preferred
- Hoisting/Crane Operator experience preferred
- Previous experience preferred, willing to train
- ABYC and/or manufacturer certifications preferred
- Ability to ascend and descend a ladder
- Must carry own tools
- Familiarity with boats and nomenclature
- Ability to lift 100 pounds
- Ability to work in all weather conditions
- Basic boat handling skills preferred
- Ability to hang, move, twist, and climb with loads
- Must be able to go aloft
