JK Executive Strategies is proud to partner with a respected nonprofit organization in search of a Human Resources & Volunteer Services Manager to join its team!

The Human Resources & Volunteer Services Manager will oversee the organization's human resources functions while playing a critical leadership role in the development, expansion, and long-term success of its volunteer services program. A key priority will be developing and executing a comprehensive strategy to recruit, train, engage, and retain healthcare professionals and supporting volunteers to meet the organization's evolving operational and service needs.

This individual will work closely with organizational leadership to strengthen volunteer participation, build community partnerships, modernize existing processes, and establish sustainable systems that support continued program growth.

They should possess strong HR experience, exceptional relationship-building skills, and the ability to independently manage competing priorities while taking ownership of initiatives that strengthen both employee and volunteer engagement.

Responsibilities

Human Resources Management

• Oversee day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management.
• Serve as the primary HR resource for employees and leadership, providing guidance on personnel matters, organizational policies, and workplace concerns.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state employment laws, regulations, and organizational policies.
• Manage employee records, HR documentation, and reporting while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
• Support employee engagement, professional development, and retention initiatives.
• Partner with organizational leadership to evaluate and improve HR policies, procedures, and operational efficiencies.

Volunteer Services Management

• Lead the strategic development, expansion, and daily management of the organization's volunteer services program, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and service needs.
• Develop and execute comprehensive volunteer recruitment, training, and retention strategy, with particular emphasis on attracting healthcare professionals and other supporting volunteers.
• Identify volunteer staffing needs across the organization and proactively develop recruitment initiatives to strengthen program capacity and support service delivery.
• Establish and maintain relationships with healthcare organizations, educational institutions, community partners, and professional networks to expand volunteer recruitment pipelines.
• Oversee volunteer onboarding, orientation, training, scheduling, engagement, and ongoing development to ensure positive and effective volunteer experience.
• Spearhead the modernization of existing volunteer management processes by transitioning paper-based applications, mailed documentation, and manual tracking systems into streamlined digital solutions.
• Develop and implement volunteer engagement and recognition initiatives to improve retention, strengthen relationships, and encourage long-term participation.
• Establish and maintain volunteer policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency, efficiency, and compliance with organizational requirements.
• Monitor and evaluate volunteer recruitment, participation, retention, and program effectiveness, providing regular updates and recommendations to organizational leadership.

Requirements

• 5+ years of progressive human resources experience, preferably in HR management experience.
• Strong understanding of employee relations, recruitment, benefits administration, performance management, and employment law compliance.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage HR operations and balance multiple organizational priorities.
• Experience overseeing volunteer programs, community engagement initiatives, or similar responsibilities preferred.
• Previous experience within a nonprofit, healthcare, human services, or other mission-driven organization preferred.
• Experience implementing new systems, improving administrative processes, or leading organizational change preferred.
• Familiarity with HRIS platforms and volunteer management software are preferred.
• SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification preferred.

Salary Range

• $75k-$80k
