Job Title: Die Designer

Job Description

The Designer is responsible for designing high-quality stamping dies, prototype tooling, and die components. The majority of the work involves progressive dies, while a small portion includes transfer dies. This position plays a crucial role in the automotive sector, and the company operates both production/stamping and die-making businesses.

Responsibilities

• Design high-quality dies that meet customer standards.
• Prepare and facilitate die review meetings with internal and external customers.
• Check prototype assemblies for potential formability and assembly errors.
• Examine CAD models for proper color codes and machinability.
• Verify detail drawings for completeness, clarity, and dimensional accuracy.
• Communicate customer needs effectively to the tool room.
• Generate bill of materials with a focus on accuracy.
• Work on projects involving prototype, hand-set parts, and draw one station at a time to ensure fit and function.
• Collaborate with die makers to ensure projects are on track based on design intent.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in die making, die repair, and die design.
• Experience with 3D CAD, specifically Solidworks.
• Familiarity with progressive dies and deep draw dies.
• Experience in production stamping and strip layout.
• A minimum of 4 years of familiarity with progressive stamping dies from a die-making, repair, or design experience
• Proficiency in Solidworks, Global Shop, and GD&T.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with Solidworks.
• Experience with Global Shop.
• Understanding of GD&T principles.

Work Environment

The work schedule is Monday through Thursday from 6 AM to 4:30 PM, with occasional overtime on Fridays and Saturdays. This position requires working in an office environment with a 30-minute lunch break. The company offers up to 3 weeks of paid time off and 6 paid holidays.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Coopersville, MI.

The pay range for this position is $23.95 - $34.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Coopersville,MI.
