Outreach Coordinator

Position Summary: An employee in this classification works under the supervision of theChief Strategy and Engagement Officer. TheCAC OutreachCoordinator supports CAC’s neighborhood outreach, community engagement, partnership development, and public awareness efforts. The position serves as a community-based connector between CAC, neighborhood residents, businesses, service providers, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include conducting outreach, providing basic information and resource navigation,developingandmaintainingcommunity partnerships, supporting storytelling and promotional content, andassistingwith seasonal outreach activities involving CAC’s resource van. TheCAC OutreachCoordinator provides initial information, identifiesappropriate resources, and connects individuals and families with CAC programs or other community service providers. Conduct outreach to residents, neighborhood groups, businesses, schools, faith communities, service providers, and other community stakeholders. Build trust and engage with residents from diverse backgrounds, including individuals and families experiencing financial hardship or other barriers. Provide basic resource navigation by listening to residents’ needs, sharing information about available services, and connecting individuals withappropriate CACprograms or community partners. Make referrals and, when appropriate, provide limited follow-up to help ensure individuals successfully connect with the identified resource. Maintain clear professional boundaries and refer individuals needing ongoing assessment or case management to theappropriate program. Build,maintain, and leverage relationships with nonprofit organizations, government agencies, neighborhood leaders, businesses, schools, faith communities, and other partners. Identifyopportunities for coordinated outreach, referrals, resource fairs, community events, sponsorships, and shared initiatives. Serve as a point of contact for individuals seeking information about CAC services at outreach events. Plan, promote, andparticipatein neighborhood events, resource fairs, community meetings, and other outreach activities. Assistwith developing flyers, social media content, presentations, outreach materials, and other communications that increase awareness of CAC services and community resources. Identifyand help develop stories thatdemonstrateCAC’s community impact, including gathering information from staff, partners, and participating residents. Support interviews, photographs, testimonials, and other storytelling activitiesin accordance withCAC policies, confidentiality requirements, and required permissions. Coordinate withappropriate CACstaff to ensure public-facing information isaccurate, accessible, and consistent with agency messaging and brand standards. Safely drive andoperateCAC’s resource van during seasonal outreach campaigns, community events, and other assigned activities. Assistwith scheduling and coordinating the resource van in partnership with CAC departments and community organizations. Load, transport, set up, and break down outreach materials, tables, signage, equipment, and supplies. Helpensurethe resource van and outreach materials are clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for community use. Gather feedback from residents and community partnersregardingemerging needs, service barriers, and opportunities for collaboration. Track outreach contacts, referrals, partnerships, event participation, resource van activities, and other required program information. Maintainaccuraterecords in agency databases and prepare reports, summaries, correspondence, and presentations asrequired. Communicate community needs, service gaps, outreach results, and partnership opportunities to thesupervisorand relevant CAC departments. Represent CAC professionally and serve as a positive ambassador for the agency and its mission. Attend staff meetings, community meetings, trainings, and other activities related to outreach, communications, partnerships, and resource coordination. Work occasional evenings and weekends as required by outreach and community event schedules. Support the development and ongoing engagement of Resident Advisory Boards, including working with program staff toidentify, engage and prepare clients for potential service on CAC boards and advisory groups. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements belowrepresentthe knowledge, skills, and abilities needed for the position. Knowledge of community outreach, human services, social services, marketing, communications, public relations, or related fields. General knowledge of community resources available to low-income individuals and families in Knoxville and Knox County. Ability to engage individuals and families with empathy, professionalism, cultural humility, and respect. Ability to listen to residents,identifybasic needs, explain available resources, and makeappropriate referrals. Ability to recognize when an individualrequiresmore intensiveassistanceand refer the person toan appropriate casemanagement or service program. Ability toestablish, strengthen, andleveragecommunity partnerships. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to gather information and develop clear, engaging stories about programs, partnerships, and community impactas needed or assigned. Ability toassistwith creating flyers, social media content, presentations, and other outreach materials. Ability to make presentations and communicate information to community groups, partners, staff, and the public. Ability to plan and coordinate outreach events, schedules, materials, andlogistics. Ability to work independently in community settings while coordinating effectively with agency staff and partners. Ability to maintainconfidentiality, obtainappropriate permissions, and use sound judgment when sharing client or program stories. Ability to collect, organize, document, and reportaccurateoutreach and program information. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing community needs. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications, email, databases, social media platforms, and other standard workplace technology. Ability to safelyoperatethe CAC resource van and other agency vehicles as assigned. Ability to lift, carry, load, and unload outreach materials and equipment, with or without reasonable accommodation. A bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, communications, marketing, public relations, community development, ora relatedfield is preferred. Mustpossessa valid Tennessee driver’s license. Mustmaintaina driving record that meets CAC’s requirements foroperatingan agency vehicle. Must becomfortable safelydriving andoperatinga mobile resource van. Must be willing and able toworka flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends. Must be able to travel throughout Knoxville and Knox County for outreach activities, meetings, and events. Successful completion of required background checks and driving-record review isrequired.
