About the Role:

The Cashier plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout experience for customers, directly impacting overall customer satisfaction and store performance. This position requires handling cash transactions accurately, operating the cash register and point of sale systems, and providing friendly and professional customer service. The role also involves maintaining a clean and organized checkout area, performing light janitorial duties, and assisting with inventory or stocking as needed. Flexibility in scheduling is essential to meet the demands of varying store hours and peak times. Ultimately, the Cashier contributes to a positive shopping environment by combining technical skills with excellent interpersonal communication.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Previous experience in cashiering or retail customer service preferred.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle cash accurately.
• Ability to perform repetitive motions and stand for extended periods.
• Capability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with point of sale (POS) systems and cash register operation.
• Strong phone etiquette and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
• Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends and holidays.
• Prior experience performing janitorial or maintenance duties in a retail setting.

Responsibilities:

• Operate cash registers and point of sale systems to process customer purchases accurately and efficiently.
• Handle cash, credit, and other forms of payment while ensuring proper transaction procedures are followed.
• Provide courteous and helpful customer service, addressing questions and resolving minor issues promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the checkout area, including performing janitorial duties as assigned.
• Assist with lifting and carrying heavy items when necessary, and support other store functions as directed.
• Answer phone calls professionally, providing information or directing calls appropriately.
• Working on the kitchen line. 
• Work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays to meet store operational needs.

The required skills such as cashiering and operating cash registers are essential for processing transactions quickly and accurately, ensuring customer satisfaction. Repetitive motions and physical stamina are necessary to manage the demands of standing and handling items throughout the shift. Customer service skills are used daily to engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner, resolving inquiries and enhancing their shopping experience.
