We’re Looking for a Different Kind of Employee

We’re looking for a hard-working, self-motivated, hands-on person who likes variety and wants more than just a job.

This is a hybrid position for someone who can work the shop and warehouse, cut and handle metal, operate a forklift, make deliveries, and get things done — but who can also answer the phone, communicate with customers, use a computer, and quote metal accurately.

We're a family-owned metal supply and distribution business where the people who work here have a direct impact on the success of the company. We're looking for someone who wants to learn the business, take ownership, and work their way up to becoming a key member of our team and the owner's right-hand person.

What You'll Do:

Warehouse / Shop

• Cut metal accurately to customer specifications
• Load, unload, stage, and organize metal and material
• Operate a forklift and other shop/warehouse equipment
• Safely handle steel, aluminum, stainless, and other metal products
• Pull and prepare customer orders
• Assist with inventory organization and warehouse maintenance
• Load trucks and prepare orders for delivery
• Make local deliveries as needed
• Keep the shop and warehouse clean, organized, and safe
• Troubleshoot problems and figure out how to get the job done

Inside Sales / Customer Service

• Answer incoming phone calls and help customers with their metal needs
• Listen to what customers are looking for and recommend the appropriate material
• Prepare accurate quotes for metal products and services
• Enter orders and customer information into our computer system
• Communicate pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery information
• Build relationships with customers and provide excellent service
• Follow up on quotes and customer requests
• Work with the warehouse and management team to make sure orders are correct and delivered on time

The Person We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

• Comfortable working with tools, equipment, and machinery

• Detail-oriented enough to quote and process orders accurately
• Physically capable of working in a warehouse/shop environment and lifting metal/materials
• Comfortable driving a company vehicle and making local deliveries
• Someone who likes variety and doesn't want to sit behind a desk all day
• Someone who takes pride in their work and wants to make a difference
• No-BS, straightforward, and easy to work with

Metal Experience Is a Big Plus

Experience in metal supply, steel/aluminum distribution, fabrication, welding, machining, construction, manufacturing, or a similar hands-on industry is highly desirable.

Experience operating a forklift and cutting metal is strongly preferred.

But we're willing to train the right person.

What's more important is that you are smart, dependable, mechanically inclined, willing to learn, and willing to work.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, shop, construction, metal, manufacturing, or industrial experience preferred
• Metal cutting experience preferred
• Forklift experience preferred
• Valid driver's license and clean driving record
• Basic computer skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to read measurements and understand dimensions
• Ability to safely lift and move metal/materials
• Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
