Senior Civil Engineer I - Materials & Research

OverviewThe Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT) is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Civil Engineer to lead a team of engineers, technicians, and scientists within the Materials and Research Section. The ideal candidate for this role is someone who loves to solve problems, is a strategic thinker, and one who thrives collaborating with others.This position will be responsible for leading a program that ensures the quality of materials used on construction projects through testing and the development and review of technical specifications. Significant time will be spent supporting staff and providing high-level administrative and technical review, as well as developing and maintaining a strategic plan and budget for the unit. Fieldwork may involve exposure to hazardous materials, traffic hazards, and construction sites during all weather conditions and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required.
