ELECTRICIAN

Electrician

The Electrician installs, modifies, maintains and repairs electrical systems. Essential duties include troubleshooting, locating and repairing circuit and equipment failures. The Electrician repairs and maintains multiple light systems, replaces electrical outlets, switches, breakers, lighting fixtures, wiring, fans, various types of motors, installs electrical light ballasts, and repairs transformers. Required to have prompt, regular attendance in-person and be available to work on-site, in-person during regular business hours and as needed. Performs other duties as assigned by an appropriate administrator or their representative.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities include written and oral communication, computer skills, proficiency in all areas of commercial electrical work including preventative and demand maintenance as well as other associated work, and the ability to correctly and safely operate all tools.

Minimum requirements include vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school, a valid Georgia driver's license, compliance with Transportation Regulation EDC-R, a state of Georgia journeyman level electrical license, and two years of related work experience.

Salary grade: 121. Salary range: Salary schedules - Atlanta Public Schools. Work year: Annual.

Physical abilities and working conditions include the ability to read small print and view a computer screen for prolonged periods, tolerate exposure to noisy conditions, be understood in face-to-face communications, use hands to grasp, manipulate small objects, lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 5 or more pounds on a frequent basis, encounter constant work interruptions, work cooperatively with others, work independently, work indoors, read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level, math skills at a high school proficiency level, judgement and the ability to process information quickly, learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards, give verbal instruction, rank tasks in order of importance, copy, compare, compile and coordinate information and records, and understand how to manage stress. Ability to be flexible and adapt as needed between various in-person working environments.
