What you'll do: Prepare, cook and serve high-quality meals, ensuring food is presented to a consistently high standard. Take responsibility for the smooth running of the catering service during your shifts, ensuring agreed service standards are achieved. Provide a friendly and professional service, helping to create a great experience for customers. Plan and organise food preparation and service to ensure everything is ready on time. Take responsibility for ordering goods and maintaining appropriate stock levels. Manage stock effectively, including stock rotation, portion control and reducing food waste. Support the achievement of food cost and margin targets while maintaining excellent quality. Ensure the kitchen, food preparation and storage areas are clean, organised and secure. Follow all food hygiene, Health & Safety, fire safety and safe working procedures. Maintain accurate food safety and compliance records and support the achievement of required audit standards. Ensure allergen and food safety requirements are followed throughout food preparation and service. Support and guide catering colleagues during your shift, helping the team deliver a consistently high standard of service. Respond positively to customer feedback and look for opportunities to improve the catering service. Use company systems and Microsoft Office where required to complete records and administration. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene and professional appearance. Support other areas of the catering operation when required and undertake relevant training to continue developing your skills. What you'll bring: A 706/2, NVQ Level 2 Chef qualification or equivalent . Previous experience working as a Cook or Chef within a busy catering environment. Experience supporting or overseeing a catering service and working effectively with a team. Good knowledge of food hygiene, food safety and Health & Safety requirements. Experience with stock control, ordering and managing food costs. The ability to prepare and cook food confidently while maintaining consistent standards of quality and presentation. Good organisational skills with the ability to plan your workload and manage changing priorities. Excellent communication and customer service skills. A self-motivated approach with the confidence to work on your own initiative when required. The ability to remain calm, organised and positive during busy service periods. Good IT skills, including experience using Microsoft Office. A willingness to learn, develop your skills and complete any required training. Previous experience supporting or training other team members would be beneficial. An IOSH Managing Safely qualification would be advantageous but isn't essential.
