Coordinating work functions with fellow team members and other departments within POET, the technician must also communicate any issues to management and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) while maintaining awareness of process hazards. Schedule: Day/Night rotation (flexible rotation); Nights: 12‑hour shifts; Days: 8‑hour shifts with rotating on‑call weekends. Maintain boiler and cooling tower systems, including water testing and adjustments. Maintain all plant equipment, including centrifuges (decanters and corn oil), pumps, motors, gearboxes, minor electrical systems, PLCs, heat exchangers, compressors, grain handling equipment, fans, and blowers. Troubleshoot equipment issues. Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) functions on equipment. Operate, maintain, and clean water filtration equipment. Operate the DCS as needed. Use Maximo to coordinate and order materials, document maintenance tasks, and track spare‑part inventory. Work with management to solve problems and correct unsafe conditions. Operate equipment such as telehandlers, skid steers, tractors, ATVs, pay loaders, and forklifts. Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication on plant and structural equipment. Perform concrete work, including building forms, pouring, and finishing. Maintain a clean facility and follow the sanitation schedule. Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental stewardship. Train new team members in the Maintenance Department. Communicate clearly with other departments. Maintain a team environment at all times and represent POET in the community. Qualifications & Skills High school diploma or equivalent. Secondary education and/or certifications preferred. Documented successful performance as a Maintenance TechnicianI or equivalent work experience required. Experience with fabrication, welding, cutting, and repair of equipment such as pumps, gearboxes, airlocks, fans/blowers, agitator assemblies, and valves. Experience with boiler operations and water chemistry. Experience with material handling systems such as conveyors. Experience with preventative maintenance practices, fabrication and repair of metal/plastic piping systems, instrument and electrical work. Experience with concrete work, hydraulics, pneumatic and fluid processes, and ability to read schematic drawings (helpful). Excellent organizational, time‑management, and communication skills and ability to embrace change. Ability to understand technical and day‑to‑day operations of a bioprocessing facility. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs. Physical Requirements Occasionally lift weight up to 60pounds. Climb several flights of stairs and ladders. Open valves. Occasionally bend, twist, and turn while lifting weight under 50pounds. Data entry while seated for greater than one hour. Walk up to 2miles per day. Push brooms, shovels, etc. Work at heights, in confined spaces and at temperatures from ‑20°C to +100°C. Stand for extended periods of time. Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Use hand and power tools. Pass a drug screen during pre‑screen and be subject to random drug and alcohol testing during employment. Work Environment Team members will be required to adhere to all safety requirements at all times and in all work environments. This position exposes employees to plant, laboratory, and office settings, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, dusty conditions, temperature variations, and chemical hazards.
