Position Summary The Mechanical/Dimensional Inspector I is responsible for performing routine mechanical inspections per technical documentation, using pre‑trained methods to determine product acceptability. This role operates with moderate independence, consulting with internal team members in a collaborative team environment. FLSA: Non‑exempt Job Duties and Responsibilities Collect and review inspection data to ensure component integrity and investigate and resolve discrepancies found during part inspection. Locate appropriate programs, load components into inspection equipment, run basic inspection programs, and report results. Identify features for inspection and correctly assign dimensional values and tolerances specified in print to a given feature. Contribute to primary areas of inspection for which training has been provided. Communicate effectively with supervision verbally and in writing regarding problems and corrective action. Participate in and sustain 5S Standards. Follow all required safety and ISO procedures. Maintain regular on‑site attendance and punctuality. May be required to work in other functional areas and/or facilities depending on business needs. May be required to work overtime or alternate shifts based on business needs. Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned. Education, Experience & Skills High School diploma or equivalent, related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. No previous quality experience is required. Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. Basic proficiency in blueprint reading. Familiarity with GD&T symbology per ASME Y14.5. Fluent in setting up simple parts and understanding the proper use of basic mechanical inspection equipment. Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form. Strong time‑management skills. Working Conditions Regularly perform repetitive tasks. Work is primarily standing (90 %+ of the shift) except for lunch and break periods. Shifts are 8, 10, and 12 hours. Exposure to a typical manufacturing environment, with frequent standing, sitting, stooping/squatting, walking, stair climbing, and lifting/moving of tooling and parts up to 40 pounds. Must be able to reach with hands and arms, bend and kneel frequently (minimum 50 % of the shift), and perform repetitive wrist, hand, elbow, shoulder, and ankle motions. Must demonstrate proficient fine‑motor skills and the ability to use tools to torque fixtures in machinery or during assembly, machining, or testing of parts. Specific vision abilities required may include close and distance vision, peripheral and depth perception, and focus on fine print. Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) where required. Must comply with all work‑exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. security mandates.
