Human Resource Intern

The Human Resources Intern will gain hands‑on experience supporting core HR functions within a fast‑paced union manufacturing environment. This role offers exposure to recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, labor relations, compliance, and benefits administration while assisting the HR team with day‑to‑day operations and special projects. This position is designed to provide practical experience and professional development opportunities for individuals interested in pursuing a career in Human Resources. Primary Responsibilities Scan and organize employee personnel files into electronic record systems. Assist with maintaining confidentiality of employee records and HR documentation. Support HR document retention and compliance procedures. Participate in Welder and Laborer Open House events, including: Supporting candidate assessments Assist with screening candidates for craft / manufacturing positions. Support onboarding and pre‑employment activities by: Launching and tracking drug screens and background checks Preparing new hire packets and onboarding materials Scheduling orientation sessions through Outlook Assist with administering internal skill assessments for positions Observe Union Step 1 grievance hearings to gain exposure to labor relations processes. Assist the Benefits administrator with monthly benefits invoice reviews and reconciliation activities. Gain exposure to employee benefits administration and wellness initiatives. Requirements Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, or a related field preferred. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment. Interest in Human Resources within a manufacturing or union environment. Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
