Tax Manager

A seasoned tax professional with at least five years of public accounting experience and strong leadership abilities is needed to manage tax engagements, perform final technical reviews, guide staff development, oversee workflow, and support client relationships while staying current on tax law changes. This full-time position is available immediately in Alamogordo, NM. The role aims to ensure high-quality tax compliance and advisory services while leading teams, improving processes, and strengthening client satisfaction in a collaborative, fast-paced, and growth-oriented setting that values initiative, accuracy, and effective communication. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide final technical review of tax returns and related documents for the majority of the client base.
• Research complex tax issues and develop appropriate recommendations.
• Stay current with changes in tax law and accounting procedures.
• Plan, coordinate, schedule, and manage client engagements to ensure all deadlines are met.
• Communicate directly with clients to help achieve their best outcomes.
• Direct and support staff and supervisors by setting objectives, providing resources, and promoting a positive work environment.
• Monitor product quality and personnel performance.
• Assign, track, and manage tax projects prepared by staff and supervisors.
• Mentor, develop, and support the professional growth of team members.
• Build and maintain internal and external relationships to identify new business opportunities.
• Oversee billing, collections, WIP management, and review aging and write-downs.
• Participate in internal CPE and training initiatives.

Qualifications:

• CPA certification preferred.
• Minimum of five years of public accounting experience.
• Demonstrated leadership and team management skills.
• Strong decision-making abilities with initiative.
• Ability to work effectively under pressure.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a heavy workload.
