Job Description

Job Summary:
The Clinical Nurse in CVICU is a registered professional nurse responsible for delivering comprehensive, evidence-based care to cardiac surgical and critical care patients. This role involves collaboration with interdisciplinary teams to ensure patient safety, optimal recovery, and positive health outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate patient conditions, utilizing critical thinking to develop and adjust individualized care plans.
• Deliver safe, efficient, and compassionate bedside care based on nursing research, standards, and organizational policies.
• Educate patients and families about their treatment plans, discharge instructions, and disease prevention strategies.
• Communicate effectively with the healthcare team, document interventions accurately, and escalate issues promptly.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives to enhance patient safety and care processes.
• Perform charge nurse duties and coordinate patient throughput and resource management during shifts.

Qualifications:

• Valid NYS RN license with active certification.
• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience in Post Open Heart and Cardiac Care or similar setting.
• BLS certification required; EPIC experience highly preferred.
• Demonstrated competency in cardiac critical care nursing, with the ability to handle complex patient needs.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
