Part-Time Veterinarian - Animal General Connecticut

Position : Part-Time Veterinarian Location : Animal General, Avon, Connecticut Position Overview Work a full clinic schedule at a single home hospital with predictable, part‑time hours. You will provide clinical services, uphold high standards of care, and collaborate with a locally led veterinary team supported by national resources. This role offers flexibility for balancing personal commitments while remaining clinically engaged. Key Responsibilities Perform comprehensive patient exams and develop medical work‑ups. Communicate and educate clients about diagnoses and treatment plans. Conduct diagnostic procedures, surgeries, and other clinical procedures. Maintain accurate medical records and pharmacy duties, including prescription and controlled substance protocols. Promote teamwork and staff efficiency. Collaborate with the Hospital Manager on weekly priorities and expectations. Evaluate and monitor hospital protocols from intake to discharge. Monitor cases and attend daily rounds when possible to ensure high standards are upheld. Participate in practice management updates and training at all levels. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Qualifications (Required) DVM or VMD degree from an accredited college or university. Current State Veterinary License. DEA registration that is obtained and maintained. Minimum 1 year of experience in a veterinary practice. Strong diagnostic and clinical skills. Excellent surgical and dental abilities. Team‑oriented work style. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Commitment to compassionate, high‑quality veterinary care. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with medical and hospital staff. Client communication skills, including establishing rapport and explaining treatment options. Confidence and reassurance when dealing with distressed or ill animals. Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform tasks that require climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling. Ability to perform moderately physically demanding work as needed. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Extensive clinical knowledge and skill in cardiovascular, respiratory, orthopedic, neurological, and other examinations. Problem‑solving skills for managing high‑quality veterinary hospital operations. Effective communication of diagnostic and therapeutic options to clients and internal staff. Professionalism and constructive feedback within a high‑quality team. Business acumen regarding veterinary hospital management and finances. Ethical decision‑making in patient care.
