Zone Supervisor

The University of Southern California (USC) Department of Facilities Planning & Management (FPM) seeks a Zone Supervisor to lead the Zone Maintenance unit, overseeing daily operations, maintenance projects, staff, and budget management. Responsibilities The Zone Supervisor supervises staff, coordinates maintenance projects, and ensures high quality service to students, faculty, and staff. Supervise and train zone maintenance staff; screen, interview, hire, counsel or discipline, provide performance feedback, and prepare documented appraisals. Conduct building and facility inspections, identify safety hazards and maintenance needs, determine corrective actions, and recommend repairs or replacements. Assess maintenance workload, plan or schedule staff accordingly, determine staffing needs for peak volumes and special projects, and authorize overtime. Monitor workflow for efficiency and timeliness, set priorities, and make adjustments to meet deadlines. Train and support staff in the Pay for Skills program; schedule training, verify completion, and integrate program requirements. Review work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to internal policies; address errors and provide feedback. Provide technical assistance, implement and interpret departmental policies and procedures. Determine costs of equipment, materials and supplies, order items, and liaise with vendors on deliveries. Contribute to development of policies, procedures, and internal systems that support unit workflow. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. Plan and administer income and expense budgets, develop projections, track actual results, and adjust operating plans for variances. Produce operating reports such as project status and work backlogs as required. Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. Salary Range Annual salary range: $85,057 – $115,183 per year. Minimum Qualifications High school or equivalent education. Five (5) years of experience in facilities, trades, and maintenance. Specialized or technical training in relevant fields. Thorough knowledge of zone maintenance duties and multiple trades with progressive leadership, management, and supervisory experience. Demonstrated leadership and management ability to lead and motivate teams. Proficient use of Outlook, Microsoft Office, and CMMS. Valid California driver's license; participation in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System required. Preferred Qualifications Associate’s degree and/or bachelor’s degree. Strong project management experience. Advanced computer skills, especially proficiency in Excel. Experience in higher education facilities maintenance.
