Sr. Product Manager - Upcoming Apps Portfolio

The Role Mode Mobile is standing up a new business unit with a new portfolio of apps. They are smaller than our flagship products, they move faster, and they carry more risk. The portfolio opens with two apps, one in wellness and one in personal budgeting, and more will follow. Every app in this group is a bet. Some will find an audience and a business, some will not, and the job is to figure out which is which quickly and without spending more than the answer is worth. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager to own that portfolio. You will run several apps at once rather than going deep on a single product, and you will make the recommendation on which ones earn more investment and which ones we put in maintenance mode, harvest or sunset. Monetization is the center of the work, not an afterthought once the product is built. Apps may monetize through subscriptions, ads or a hybrid model, tuned to the audience and the market rather than copied from a template. There is also a data monetization component, where users are compensated for data they choose to share, and you will own how that is offered, consented to, and valued. You will report to the GM, Upcoming Apps Portfolio and lead your own cross-functional squad. Who You Are and What You’ll Do You are comfortable owning several products at once, moving between them without losing the thread on any of them, and being honest with yourself about where your attention is actually going. You treat a new app as a hypothesis. You define what would prove it out, you agree on a budget of time and money, and you hold yourself to the answer even when the answer is no. You are a self starter and thrive in ambiguity. You may not have the answers, but you know how to ask questions and take the first step. You don’t get stuck in first gear. There is no task you are not willing and able to take on; scrappy and resourceful are two adjectives you use to describe yourself. You build monetization models that may include subscriptions and/or advertising, and you understand the tension between them. You know when a paywall is costing more in ad revenue than it brings in, and you know how to test your way to the right mix for a given audience. You own pricing, packaging, trials, and paywall placement, and you judge them on revenue per user over the life of the account rather than day one conversion. You are fluent on the ad side: mediation, fill, eCPM, ad load, and what happens to retention when you push any of those too far. You think carefully about data monetization. You can build an experience where users understand what they are sharing, agree to it willingly, and feel fairly paid for it, and you work with legal and privacy partners to keep it that way. You can confidently say “no” or “not yet” and “here’s why.” You can prioritize based on alignment to goals, impact, risk, complexity and effort. You value learning directly from users about what matters to them and developing solutions to their problems. You can deftly balance user and business needs, maximizing both business value and user experience. You use AI agents as a force multiplier rather than a talking point. You build your own prototypes, pull your own data, draft your own specs, run your own competitive research, and automate the recurring analysis that would otherwise eat your week. A portfolio this size only works if everyone on it operates well above what their headcount suggests. You are curious about where agents belong inside the products themselves, and equally clear-eyed about where they add cost, latency, and failure modes without adding anything the user can feel. You rely on all forms of insight to identify problems and opportunity areas: business metrics, qualitative and quantitative data, competitive analysis, leadership and stakeholder feedback. You are able to expertly own all parts of the product lifecycle: discovery, validation, experimentation, continuous delivery, and measurement. You can work closely with UX Designers to develop solutions that are thoughtful, intuitive, and helpful. You work collaboratively with your engineering team to define detailed product epics and stories supporting delivering on objectives as measured by key results. You are comfortable in 0 to 1 products with a high degree of ambiguity, and equally comfortable optimizing a small app that is already working to see how far it can go. You deliver on your goals. You are responsible and accountable for your actions and decisions, and you take ownership of the outcomes. What You Bring to the Team 5+ years of professional product management experience, making critically important business and product decisions in an agile environment, delivering mobile applications to end-users. 3+ years of experience owning a product discovery process from idea to validation experimentation to launch. Passionate about learning directly from users. Hands on experience with subscription products: pricing, packaging, free trials, paywall design, churn and win back. Familiarity with RevenueCat, Superwall, or comparable tooling. Experience with advertising monetization in mobile apps: mediation, ad placement and load, eCPM, and the tradeoff between ad revenue and retention. Familiarity with AppLovin MAX, AdMob, or comparable platforms. Experience running subscriptions and advertising together in the same product is a significant advantage. Experience with products that compensate users for their data or attention, or with consent flows and the privacy and store policy requirements that come with them. Experience building and scaling native Android and iOS applications. Comfort operating a portfolio rather than a single product, including allocating your own time across apps and sunsetting the ones that are not earning their keep. Demonstrated fluency with agentic AI tools in your day to day work. Specific examples carry more weight than a list of tools: what you built or shipped with an agent, what it automated, and what it actually saved you. Experience shipping AI-powered features in a consumer app is a plus, including the unglamorous parts such as cost per user, latency, and what happens when the model is wrong. Experience collaborating with multiple stakeholders and cross-functional disciplines. Experience utilizing data analysis and experimentation tools: Mixpanel, Firebase, and an MMP such as Singular or Adjust. Strong use of analytics, user research, and business cases to drive decisions and improve products. Strong understanding of system design. Bonus points for familiarity with AWS, Rails, Node.js, and data storage. Exceptional written and oral communication skills. Exceptional organizational and analytical skills.
