JOB SUMMARY: The Grants & Community Engagement Specialist plays a key role in driving the Civil group's growth by securing competitive funding and coordinating the pursuit process end-to-end. This role is funding-led with community engagement and pursuit logistics to convert awards into projects.

Department: Civil Engineering | Reports to: Principal/Civil Engineer | FLSA: Exempt

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Own Civil's funding calendar - identify programs, qualify fit, track deadlines, coordinate readiness.
• Lead grant narrative and compliance assembly; run post-award/denial debriefs and share learnings.
• Maintain a live opportunity pipeline; brief Civil leadership regularly and monitor federal, state, and local funding sources.
• Partner with the Funding Technical Advisor to keep all funding info accurate and on time.
• Assist and support Associates and Principals with grant applications as needed.
• Run Go/No-Go prep: funding fit, client context, schedule, and risk for Civil leadership decisions.
• In coordination with the Marketing department, prepare and submit proposals aligned to project objectives and client needs.
• Gather forms, certifications, and licensure lists; shepherd inputs from principals and enforce deadlines.
• Plan and execute municipal outreach; log interactions and next steps.
• Build new business leads and maintain relationships with existing municipal clients.
• Foster positive relationships with community members, local officials, and organizations to support inclusive, informed planning.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

• Bachelor's degree in public administration, planning, communications, business administration, or a related field required.
• 3+ years in municipal grants, community/economic development, or infrastructure funding, with a track record of awarded projects preferred.
• A/E/C or municipal planning background preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

• Ability to learn federal, state, and local funding programs relevant to civil/infrastructure work; training provided.
• Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail; grant compliance knowledge can be developed on the job.
• Ability to build relationships with municipal officials, community members, and internal teams.
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.

PAY RANGE: $55,000–$95,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
