Traveling Safety Representative- HDD / Open Cut PipelineSummit Underground Solutions, a United Utility Services Company, is seeking an experienced and proactive Traveling Safety Representative- HDD / Open Cut Pipeline to oversee and uphold safety compliance on pipeline construction projects. We are looking for a highly motivated Traveling Site Safety Representative to join our team. This position provides field safety leadership for HDD, open-cut pipeline, and underground utility construction projects across the United States. The Safety Representative partners with operations to proactively identify hazards, coach employees, ensure regulatory compliance, and promote a strong culture of safety while protecting employees, equipment, the public, and the environment.Summit Underground Solutions is an underground utilities company headquartered in The Woodlands, TX. We specialize in maxi-rig directional drilling, water, sewer, gas, fiber, and power.Key Responsibilities:Monitor daily HDD (Horizontal Directional Drilling) and open cut pipeline activities for safety complianceConduct site safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessmentsEnsure OSHA and company safety standards are met across all crews and subcontractorsBe a supportive resource to educate, train, and coach teammates on health and safety related issuesWork closely with leadership to maintain safety integration with operationsLead daily safety meetings, toolbox talks, and pre-task planning sessionsLead incident investigations in collaboration with operations to identify root causes, implement corrective actions, and ensure timely reportingEnsure proper use of PPE and adherence to safe work practicesPerform inspections of company vehicles and equipment to verify required safety equipment is present, operational, and properly maintainedCoordinate emergency response procedures and drillsMaintain accurate safety documentation and recordsOversee safety performance during high-risk activities and provide field leadership during critical operationsIdentify and mitigate hazardous working conditions through collaboration with field supervisionClarify safety rules and provide technical expertise and solutions to safety challenges on-siteServe as the primary point of contact for all on-site safety concernsKey Qualifications:Minimum 3–5 years of safety experience in pipeline construction, HDD, or open cut operationsStrong knowledge of OSHA regulations and PHMSA pipeline safety standardsRequired: Demonstrated knowledge of trenching and trench shoring systems and safety practicesExperience conducting trenching, excavation, and confined space incident investigationsOSHA 500 or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employmentExcellent communication and leadership skillsPreferred certifications include OSHA 30 Construction, First Aid/CPR Instructor, HAZWOPER, CHST, ASP, or CSPMaintain a current, valid driver's license in your state of residence.Ability to meet the physical demands of the job, including but not limited to: standing or walking for long periods of time, occasionally on uneven terrain, bending, kneeling, crouching, climbing stairs and ladders, and/or lifting heavy loads of up to 50 pounds.Must be willing to travel extensively throughout the United States, including overnight travel and extended assignments lasting several weeks.Company vehicle, travel expenses, and lodging provided in accordance with company travel policiesKey Nice-To-Haves:CSP, ASP, or CHSToDegree in Occupational Health and SafetyBilingual-SpanishKey Info:At United Utility, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace.
