About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Emergency Room Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years License: Valid RN License Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC Must-Have: Minimum 2 years of ER experience Description: The Emergency Room is dedicated to providing advanced medical care with personal attention to patients. The facility features a Fast Track area with 4 beds, open from 9 AM to 9 PM. Staffing includes LPNs with an NP or PA in the Fast Track area. The Emergency Room has 8 beds, 2 trauma bays, and 1 decontamination room. The average number of patients seen daily in the ER is 42, with approximately 30 in the Fast Track area. The staff-to-patient ratio in the ER is 1:3, and in the Fast Track area it is 1:4. A charge nurse is present for at least 12 hours per day, with a house supervisor available 24/7. A security guard is stationed in the ER to ensure safety. Weekend shifts are every other weekend, with holidays included in the permanent staff rotation. Uniforms consist of navy blue scrubs, with a white, black, navy, or gray undershirt. Tele/monitoring technology is hard-wired in the rooms and at the nurse's station. Registered Nurses are responsible for drawing their own labs. Respiratory Therapy is available 24/7 and floats throughout the facility. Pharmacy services are also 24/7, with after-hours access through a designated system. Shifts run all 12 hours, with start times at varying hours for all shifts. The staffing model typically includes 3 RNs on days, 3 on nights, and 1 on a mid-shift. A floor-specific orientation with a preceptor is provided for new hires. Common diagnoses and types of patients include COVID, chest pain, abdominal pain, psychiatric issues, strokes, and traumas. Interventional cases are referred to other facilities for specialized care. Efforts are ongoing to achieve stroke certification. Cancellations of shifts are limited during each assignment period. The charting system in use is TruBridge - Evident.
