Physical Therapist

General Summary Provides a comprehensive physical therapy program to children from birth through age five including screening, assessment, intervention, and case management while adhering to rules and regulations governing services to children with disabilities. Collaborates with teachers, therapists, and families in these processes. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides physical therapy services to children, and families within the inclusive classroom, the family home and/or other appropriate environment. Conducts evaluation of children in need of more in-depth physical therapy assessment as requested by the case manager. Compiles findings and recommendations into the multi‑disciplinary team report. Develops IEP/IFSP objectives in coordination with the Team and the family in order to meet the needs of the child. Administers developmental and physical therapy screening to children from birth through age five as requested by referrals from agencies, practitioners, families, and/or staff. Adheres to all federal/state rules and regulations governing children with disabilities. Develops materials for implementation of physical therapy services. Participates in the Early Intervention Team. Meets with other staff members as necessary to ensure effective service delivery and communication. Coaches and assists families in understanding their child's therapy program for effective carryover into the home. Provides consultation and planning services for the classroom and staff. Completes and maintains necessary paperwork/case documentation to ensure accountability. Assists in writing goals and objectives for grant applications. Compiles necessary information for end‑of‑year grant reports. Codes and bills for Medicaid services. Attends and participates in staff meetings and related activities. Attends workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge and maintain CEU requirements for the PT License. Serves on committees as assigned. Performs related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Graduate degree from an accredited college or university in Physical Therapy or a related field Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in pediatric physical therapy Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities Competencies for Successful Performance of Job Duties Knowledge Of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation Principles and practices of basic bookkeeping Modern office procedures, methods, and computer equipment Principles and practices of physical therapy Normal and atypical child development Medical conditions and disabilities affecting children and their development Early childhood teaching techniques and practices Early behavioral techniques Wyoming Rules and Regulations governing services to children with disabilities Individuals with Disabilities Education Act Gross motor developmental milestones Standardized screening assessments Skill In Interpersonal skills necessary to develop and maintain effective and appropriate working relationships Performing a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature Performing basic mathematical functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, percentages, and ratios Communication, both oral and written Ability To Meet schedules and deadlines of the work Understand and carry out oral and written directions Accurately organize and maintain paper documents and electronic files Maintain the confidentiality of information and professional boundaries Analyze problems, identify alternative solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals Research, analyze, and evaluate new methods, procedures, and techniques Provide consultation, coaching, and planning services Plan and organize appropriate interventions based on child's developmental stage The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The position involves medium physical demands, such as exerting up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
