Overview Registered Nurse RN Pre‑Op PACU position at Banner Health in Glendale, AZ, within the Perianesthesia department. Day shift (Monday‑Friday, 3:12‑12:00) with 4–5 call shifts every 8 weeks, and weekend & holiday coverage. The role requires coordination of nursing care both in pre‑op holding and the post‑anesthesia care unit. Responsibilities Assess patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs; review history, diagnostics, and laboratory data; and document abnormal results to physicians and other caregivers. Formulate a comprehensive plan of care—including the discharge plan—based on assessment data, patient and family input, and the medical plan of care. Implement the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team; communicate patient status to other caregivers for continuity of care. Evaluate patient and family responses to care and teaching; revise the plan of care as necessary, reflecting changing patient needs. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring the documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy. Provide care based on the best evidence available; participate in unit or facility shared leadership; and contribute to the education and orientation of personnel. Actively participate in the improvement of national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; engage in professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow of the department when applicable. Interact with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy, to provide comprehensive support. Shift & Benefits Night shift differential: 18% Weekend shift differential: $3 per hour flat rate Regular full‑time employment with on‑call requirement and holiday coverage. Minimum Qualifications Active RN license in the state of practice (or equivalent temporary/interim/compact license). BLS certification required. Minimum 1 year of acute‑care experience, including work in an acute‑care setting within the past 12 months. Experience in the specialty area desired; continuous clinical performance competencies validated annually. Applicable background‑check requirements (e.g., fingerprint clearance, criminal history affidavit) as mandated for behavioral health or home‑care settings. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field. Professional certifications relevant to the specialty. Additional education and/or experience related to the role.
