Physical Therapy Assistant (PRN - As Needed)

Pay Range: $26.68 - $41.36 / hour

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current Physical Therapist Assistant license in the Commonwealth of Virginia (or applicable state of employment).
• Current CPR certification preferred or required as designated by the organization.
• Previous experience in a rehabilitation, skilled nursing, assisted living, home health, or healthcare setting preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and team members.
• Strong organizational, interpersonal, and documentation skills.

Requirements:

• Administer physical therapy treatments and therapeutic exercises as directed by the Physical Therapist.
• Assist patients and residents in improving mobility, strength, balance, coordination, endurance, and functional independence.
• Observe, monitor, and document patient responses to treatment and report progress, concerns, or changes in condition to the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Accurately maintain treatment records, progress notes, and other required documentation in accordance with regulatory and organizational requirements.
• Educate patients, residents, families, and caregivers on prescribed exercises, safety techniques, and use of adaptive equipment.
• Assist with gait training, transfer training, therapeutic activities, aquatic therapy and the use of assistive devices.
• Ensure treatment areas, equipment, and supplies are clean, organized, and maintained in a safe condition.
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated patient care and treatment goals.
• Participate in care planning meetings and team discussions as appropriate.
• Adhere to established infection prevention, safety, confidentiality, and HIPAA guidelines.
• Maintain current knowledge of therapy practices through continuing education and professional development.
• Attend required meetings, in-services, and training programs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
