Program Monitor - Worcester CJSC (260003UI) Location: Worcester Community Justice Support Center, Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, 365 Main St, Worcester, MA 01608 Department: Community Justice Support Center Job Summary The Program Monitor is responsible for the overall supervision and monitoring of clients in all phases of daily routines including breaks while at the Worcester County Sheriff's Office Community Justice Support Centers (CJSC). The Monitor assists clients in securing property in lockers when attending groups, monitors all education and clinical classes/groups, takes accurate attendance of all clients while in the facility, and maintains accurate communication log entries and visitor records. The Monitor should be proficient in utilizing de-escalation techniques to prevent crisis situations and provides support and assistance to all staff and/or clients. The Monitor works closely with the Administrative Coordinator to attend to front-desk responsibilities such as answering calls, filing, cleaning, and assisting with reports, etc. Responsibilities Assist clients in securing property in lockers when attending groups Monitor all education and clinical classes/groups Take accurate attendance of all clients while in the facility Maintain accurate communication log entries and visitor records Use de-escalation techniques to prevent crisis situations Provide support and assistance to staff and/or clients Attend front-desk duties with the Administrative Coordinator, including answering calls, cleaning, assisting with reports and filing Supervise clients during daily routines and breaks, including daily walk-through Maintain a work schedule as directed and be flexible with possible shift changes Attend all relevant trainings and facilitate non-CBT groups for clients Perform high school equivalency test proctoring within the center Provide intake assistance, go over paperwork with clients, and ensure documents are signed and reviewed Support the programming staff with scheduling and other auxiliary tasks to support center goals Drive a WCSO issued van or car to transport clients to/from the center Maintain confidentiality of personal data Procure, track and preserve urine specimens and perform Breathalyzer samples from clients according to policies and procedures Accurately report urine specimens and Breathalyzer sample test results Maintain reliable drug and alcohol testing records Maintain and secure equipment for drug and alcohol collection Train and monitor assigned staff persons and/or student interns on daily duties Work with CJSC staff and Probation Officers to ensure positive flow of information Attend all scheduled meetings and present accurate accounts of CJSC drug and alcohol collecting/testing Complete all documents during the shift, including log entries and special reports Perform any duties and tasks assigned by supervisors and related work as required Work under direct supervision of the CJSC Program Director and Assistant Program Director, receiving instruction, guidance, and performance review through oral and written reports Qualifications Knowledge of the policies and procedures for collecting urine specimens Effective communication skills, both oral and written, with a clear and professional manner General knowledge of community safety facility purpose, and the goals of community correction programs Empathetic and respectful communication with clients Experience working with justice-involved populations with diverse backgrounds Working knowledge of Google Suite, Microsoft Excel and Word Physical ability to perform testing functions under typical office conditions in a correctional setting Visual and auditory acuity to maintain center security Active driver's license and ability to drive/transport individuals using the WCSO van/car Ability to sit, stand, talk, and hear frequently required tasks Willingness to work evenings and cover additional shifts as needed Additional Qualifications and Requirements Accept and demonstrate WCSO and CJSC values, desire to serve and support community needs, and foster teamwork Effectively collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, abilities, opinions, and perceptions; build rapport; remain calm in challenging situations; listen and speak effectively; and initiate development of others Make sound judgments, transfer learning, embrace new approaches, achieve goals, clarify tasks, plan work, actively participate in meetings, and strive for high-value experience Pursue self-development that enhances job performance; be open to change and seek opportunities; possess functional and technical knowledge and skills needed; use best practices and stay up-to-date in technology Education / Experience / Physical Requirements Required: Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or high-school diploma with a minimum of four years of experience in social service, security, or related field Preferred: Understanding of de-escalation techniques Supervision Received Direct supervision by the Program Manager and Assistant Program Manager of the CJSC Equal Employment Opportunity If you have Diversity, Affinection Action or Equal Employment Opportunity questions or need a Reasonable Accommodation, please contact Diversity Officer / ADA Coordinator: Dianne Jordan – View phone number on click.appcast.io #J-18808-Ljbffr Commonwealth of Massachusetts
