UX/UI Designer

COMPANY OVERVIEW

Orange Barrel Media (OBM) creates and operates iconic urban media displays that advertisers ask for by name in top U.S. markets. Since our founding in 2004, OBM has pioneered a community-oriented model of outdoor media development and is nationally recognized by cities and real estate owners alike seeking to implement premier media programs that add to the character of urban places. In the advertising community, OBM is widely recognized as the owner of the highest impact and most memorable advertising locations in the cities where it operates. The OBM team is also a leader in smart city infrastructure, launching the Interactive Kiosk Experience (IKE) platform in concert with cities across the U.S. through the company IKE Smart City. IKE is a best-in-class public engagement platform that helps cities communicate with the public, enliven the pedestrian experience, and tell the story of their city. The core pillars of the IKE platform are public benefit and social equity, values that we seek to maximize in every IKE market to achieve city objectives and exceed community expectations. We are a place where people are inspired to achieve success, genuinely like each other, and have endless opportunities to grow. Learn more at and OBM is hiring a UX/UI Designer to help shape the internal and external tools our teams and customers rely on every day. This role sits at the intersection of design and software development: you'll turn identified business needs into clear, buildable designs and help make sure everything we build looks and feels on brand. You'll report to a technical manager and work directly with our software development team day to day. You'll also collaborate closely with our Product Manager to execute on business needs and with the Marketing team to keep our systems visually consistent. Please note, only candidates in Columbus Ohio will be considered at this time. Key Responsibilities Design and maintain the user experience for our internal and external tools, ensuring every screen, workflow, and asset is on-brand and consistent with OBM's visual identity. Partner with Product Managers to translate identified business needs into user flows, wireframes, and polished designs that solve real operational problems. Build and maintain cohesive design systems and component libraries that keep our current and future tools visually and functionally consistent. Work directly with software developers throughout the build process, from early design through implementation, so designs are practical to build and design intent carries through to production. Work closely with the Marketing team to ensure product design decisions (color, typography, iconography, tone) stay aligned with OBM's brand standards as they evolve. Participate in user research and usability testing led by Product Managers, contributing a design perspective and incorporating findings into your work before and after launch. Present design concepts to cross-functional stakeholders and incorporate feedback efficiently across iterations. What You'll Bring 4+ years of experience as a UX/UI or product designer, ideally including work on internal tools, enterprise software, or B2B platforms. A strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design process, from early concepts and wireframes through final, polished UI. Experience building and maintaining a cohesive design system, with an eye for consistency and componentized design thinking. We care about the result, not which tools you use to get there. Working knowledge of HTML and CSS. You don't need to be a front-end developer, but you should understand what's possible in the browser so your designs are realistic and you can collaborate effectively with developers. Comfort partnering directly with software developers, Product Managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate ambiguous business needs into clear design solutions. Strong visual design skills and an understanding of how to apply brand guidelines across a digital product. Excellent communication skills — you can walk a room of non-designers through a design and explain the reasoning behind your decisions. Nice to Have Experience designing for internal or operational tools in advertising, media, logistics, or a similarly operations-heavy industry. Experience working within, or helping establish, a formal design system or component library used across multiple products. Background working alongside a Marketing team to maintain brand governance across non-marketing surfaces. #J-18808-Ljbffr Orange Barrel Media
