Human Resources Generalist

Salary: $60,000 - $75,000 For over 50 years, Modernistic has provided our community with exceptional cleaning and restoration services throughout Michigan. Modernistic is currently looking for an HR Generalist to join our rapidly growing team. This position will work out of our Grand Rapids or Plainwell office (whichever is most convenient to the candidate) but serve all of our locations. The HR Generalist will oversee all HR functions across the state, lead recruiting efforts, and act as a recruiter when necessary. Depending on the position, Modernistic frequently invests in external industry training and certification for team members. 95% of positions are posted internally and team members frequently are promoted from within Laptop and other equipment Cell phone reimbursement Ability to work remote (as appropriate) Opportunity to learn more skills and level up your responsibility Responsibilities Oversee benefit administration and serve as primary contact with benefit vendors Handle employee issue resolution and provide guidance to leadership and staff Ensure OSHA and safety compliance across all six locations Maintain OSHA logs, manage worker’s comp claims, and FMLA leave Gather company records as needed for project bids Set recruiting priorities, manage the recruiting budget, and act as recruiter when necessary Develop and implement HR processes, policies, and best practices Maintain compliance with employee documentation and employment law requirements Partner with leadership to drive talent retention and employee engagement Support new hire onboarding and orientation Track and analyze HR metrics to measure success and drive improvement Travel as needed to other Michigan locations to be a visible leader and resource to team members Requirements 3+ years of HR management or generalist experience 2+ years of experience in recruiting Strong knowledge of Michigan and federal employment laws Proven ability to manage multiple priorities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills High level of discretion and confidentiality Strong organizational and problem‑solving skillsSelf‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and results‑driven Must be able to pass a drug test & background check Valid Michigan driver's license and good driving record (some in‑state travel required) Experience in the service industry is a plus Knowledge of cleaning and restoration industry is a plus HR certification (PHR/SPHR/SHRM‑CP/SHRM‑SCP) is a plus We look forward to meeting you!
