Registered Nurse (RN) - Intensive Care Unit


Virtus Healthcare Staffing is searching for a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse to join our partner's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in Ottumwa, IA. Position Overview


As an RN in the ICU, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to acutely ill patients. You will work under the supervision of the Director and perform all assigned procedures within the scope of practice as set forth by the Iowa State Board of Nursing. Your role is vital in assessing patient conditions, implementing critical interventions, and ensuring patient safety in a demanding, fast-paced environment.


Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate and timely patient assessments to identify patient needs and monitor their condition.
• Initiate and carry out appropriate nursing interventions for acutely ill patients.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, ensuring all procedures are within the scope of practice.
• Provide clear and thorough documentation of patient care and progress in the medical record.
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and maintain patient care plans.

Qualifications

• Required Qualifications:
  
  
  • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program.
  • A current unencumbered Registered Nurse License in Iowa or a Compact State.
  • Recent RN experience.
  • Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiopulmonary Life Support (ACLS) are required. A Dysrhythmia course must be completed within six (6) months of hire, or you must pass a written dysrhythmia competency within 90 days of hire.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  
  
  • Experience in Telemetry or Progressive Care nursing.
  • Progressive Care RN Certification.
