The role

We're looking for a writer who already knows K–12 education from the inside, and who wants to spend their day diving into good math instruction.

Maybe you taught math and kept a blog nobody asked you to write. Maybe you coached teachers, built curriculum, sat in a central office, or spent years in edtech close enough to real schools that you still know what goes wrong in a Tier 2 block. However you got here, you'll be writing multiple pieces a week for the people who decide what happens in a district's math classrooms.

What you'll write

• Blog posts and articles. The core of the job. The audience can be a math coach interested in a specific problem of practice: why students who can compute still can't explain, what to do when your intervention block isn't moving the needle, how to run a "same but different" routine with real student work. The audience can also be district leadership keeping up with the trends of screen time in the classroom, safe AI implementation, and more.

• One-pagers. Tight, genuinely useful documents our team hands to districts. An implementation timeline. What the first three weeks of teacher adoption actually look like. How our approach differs from answer-checking platforms.

• Campaign copy support. Emails and social posts, often built from something you already wrote.

• Additional assets as needed. Conference materials, a case study, a PD handout, talking points for our sales team, a landing page rewrite. Over time there's room to host webinars, join podcasts, and take on longer research reports that pull results from several districts into one evidence piece.

What we're looking for

• Real K–12 experience, from any direction. Teaching or instructional coaching. Curriculum writing or instructional design. A district or state role in teaching and learning, assessment, or intervention. An edtech career spent close to schools, in implementation, professional learning, customer success, product, or content. Math backgrounds have a head start, and we're glad to talk with strong candidates from other subjects.

• Writing you can show us. Blog posts, a newsletter, curriculum documents, PD materials, a Substack, a conference deck, a program evaluation. It doesn't need to be marketing writing. We're looking for writing where you made an argument and someone read it.

• A comfortable working pace. Two to three finished pieces a week, sustainably, with an editor in your corner.

• Range across registers. A piece for a math coordinator and a piece for a superintendent can make the same argument and share almost no sentences. If you've briefed a board, presented to a cabinet, or worked with proficiency and adoption data, tell us about it.

• Fluency with the language of the work. Productive struggle, vertical alignment, fidelity, discourse, number sense, as things you've watched succeed or fall apart in real life.

Salary : The salary range for this full-time role is $85k-$100k per year. Actual compensation will be determined based on the candidate's experience, skill level, and location.

Office location : NYC
